Mr. Basilio is from the Vásquez village in the Totonicapan municipality. His main activity is a leather goods shop making footwear for men and women, which he learned from his father when he was 10 years old. Since he has many siblings, Basilio did not have the opportunity to continue his studies and for this reason he only finished primary school. As time passed he decided to return to his studies on weekends and this year he will finish his high school degree, for which he requests a loan to fulfill his seminar and graduate.
El señor Basilio es originario de la aldea Vásquez del municipio de Totonicapan se encuentra a ocho Kilometros de la ciudad su actividad principal es la talabarteria en la elaboracion de calzado para damas y caballeros dicha actividad lo aprendio de su querido padre cuando el tenia diez años, el comenta por ser varios hermanos no tuvieron es facilidad de seguir estudiando por lo tanto el solo termino la primaria al trasncurrir de los tiempos el desidio seguir estudiando, los fines de semana y para este año esta por finalizar la carrera de diversificado y la cual necesita de algunos fondos para realizar un seminario y poderse graduar.

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
