Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Odile's story

K. Odile was born on October 26, 1971 in Abomey, one of the historic and touristic towns in Bénin. Odile is married to Affognon Abel. Odile is the mother of 4 children, of whom 3 are enrolled in school. She sells bean fritters, fried cocoyams, French fries, and dough made out of wheat flour.

Odile prepares and serves her dishes in front of the town hall of Avotrou, a working class neighborhood of the city of Cotonou, economic capital of the Republic of Bénin. Odile has already received several loans from ALIDé. She always reimburses her loans without difficulty. To bolster her business and better satisfy her customers, Odile is requesting another loan from ALIDé.
