A loan helped to pay for day old chicks, 40KG of chicken feeders (starter), 40KG of chicken feeder (grower) for her poultry business.


Saerin's story

Saerin is 54 years old and married with 5 children. She lives in a rural community outside of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

Saerin runs and operates a small poultry business in her community to earn a living. She has been doing this for twelve years.

With her first loan, she was able to build up her poultry and start off her business. With ongoing training from SPBD staff on how to run a business, Saerin is successfully making an income and also able to meet her family's weekly expenses.

Saerin is now applying for a new loan to pay for day old chicks,chicken feeders for starters, growers, and finishers to increase her poultry stock to meet her clients demand. She plans to use her profits to expand her business and to pay for her children's school fees.

She joined SPBD in 2016 to gain access to financial services.
