A loan of $400 helped investing in the purchase of material for making fishing nets.

Teresa De Jesus's story

Teresa D. Jesús is 59 years old and lives in Salaverry district, in Trujillo province, in the department of La Libertad, Peru. She is a businesswoman who completed her primary school education and has 6 children, none of whom are financially dependent on her.

Teresa works supporting her children and her husband in their fishing business - she contributes to the purchase of fishing equipment along with the maintenance and repair of their boat.

She used the first loan of 300 soles she received from “Las Emprendedoras II” Communal Bank to invest in the purchase of materials for making fishing nets, together with the support of her children and her husband. She will use the current loan of 1,200 soles to invest in the purchase of more fishing nets, because the nets she currently has have deteriorated, and her family depends on fishing as their livelihood so they can earn money to make ends meet.

Teresa’s goal is to make more fishing nets, purchase paint, and do maintenance on their boat so that it will be ready for her family to begin fishing again within 3 months.
