Afia's story

Afia A. is a 64-year-old married mother of six children, three sons and three daughters. All of them have finished school and are currently working. Afia lives with her husband and some of her children in a rented apartment in the commercial town of Dwenase in the Western Region. Dwenase is a suburb of Sefwi-Wiawso, the district capital.

Afia and her husband are both traders. Afia has been in business for over 40 years and trades in food items such as vegetables, oil, rice, cereals, etc., which she supplies to food vendors. She buys her goods from Kumasi and nearby communities, and is requesting a loan to buy goods in bulk. Afia aspires to expand her business and improve her standard of living.
