A loan helped to buy seeds and expand her horticulture farm.

Grace's story

Dear Kiva lender,

Meet Grace (pictured in her house), who is a smallholder farmer. She was born into a humble and poor family who found a way to make a living through agriculture and taking care of animals.

Her dear parents taught her from when she was young to do all of the farm jobs, and thanks to that, she now has her own animal and crop farm. She also has a small personal business.

With children to raise, animals to look after, and food to cook, Grace has perfected the art of multitasking. Her primary sources of income are milk, eggs, and some personal businesses that she engages in.

Grace is seeking a loan worth 30,000 Kenyan shillings from Kiva lenders to buy seeds and expand her horticulture business. Horticulture farming offers employment opportunities to thousands of farmers in the Nyahururu area. It is for this reason that Juhudi has teamed up with Kiva to give Grace access to a loan that will aid her in growing her horticulture farm into a highly profitable business.

With your loan, Grace’s family will benefit from the growth of the business. This will not only increase their income, but will also improve their living standards.

Lenders, if there is someone you should consider lending to before 2016 ends, then that person is Grace!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
