A loan helped to cover higher education expenses.

Mideleidy Esteffany's story

Mideleidy is a law student. She is requesting a loan in order to cover education expenses. This is her story: "My name is Mideleidy. I am 21 years old. My mother is currently unemployed and my father is an auto mechanic.

I am currently in my 12th quarter of my Legal Sciences major at the Central University of the East (UCE) in San Pedro de Macorís.

From an early age I learned to argue and fight for the rights of others, it was my God-given duty. That's why I enrolled to study law. I started with a payment plan that was provided to me by the department, thanks to my grades in high school. However, in the 4th quarter, that payment plan was taken away from me because I wasn't able to pay for the 5th quarter on time. Since then, thank God, we have been able to pay for the other quarters, but I have a debt with the university that will not allow me to finish my studies, unless I pay the debt.

Without the help of Kiva, I won't be able to settle this account, or graduate, or get my Bachelor's Degree in Law."

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Jennifer Day.

This loan is special because:

It covers the full tuition and repayments don't start until student graduates.
