Hard-Working Women (Mp 68) Group's story

Phuong is a 39-year-old, Thai-ethnic lady. She is married and has a son, age 18. She lives with her husband and her son in an old, Thai-ethnic traditional house, at a small remote village of a poor mountainous province. The people of the village mainly rely on small-scale agricultural production. Phuong did not have the chance to study, or receive good education, so currently she is illiterate. She doesn't want her son to be the same, so she works very hard to be able to send her son to school so that he could study and have a good future. Phuong and her husband work at farming and animal husbandry.

This is the fourth time that she has called upon Kiva for a loan. She will use the loan to buy baby fish and piglets to raise and sell. She plans to use the profit she receives from this investment to cover tuition for her son. Phuong dreams that her son will be successful, in his career and his life. In the picture, she stands at the first from the right.
