Ofori's story

Ofori A. is 32 years old, and is married with one child who is currently in school. Ofori is an experienced taxi driver and he also runs a grocery store. He has been involved in these businesses for five and seven years respectively.

Due to his good customer service, a lot of people buy items from Ofori's shop. He sells milk, Milo, sugar, soap, toiletries, candy, biscuits and so on. He works as a taxi driver from morning to late afternoon, and opens his grocery shop in the evening when his customers have returned from work. He sells his grocery items from a shed and hopes for the opportunity to acquire his own store.

Ofori wants to use his loan money to buy, for example, more bags of rice and sugar, and cartons of milk and Milo. He hopes to increase his income in order to support his child’s education. He belongs to a community group, called Honesty Group, where members guarantee for one another as a means of collateral.
