Afia K. is thirty-four years old. She is married and has given birth to two children: one girl and one boy who are both in the primary school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a commercial town called Dwenase in the Western Region of Ghana. Her husband works with a local sawmill firm.
Afia is a trader. She trades in jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, chains, rings, etc. She buys her goods from Kumasi at affordable prices and sells at the market square in her community. She hawks (sells door-to-door) and treks to other markets to sell as well. She has been in business for two years and wants a loan to buy goods in bulk. She aspires to expand her business and to give her children a good education.
