A loan of $1,175 helped purchase fertilizer.

Maria's story

Maria has lived with her partner and their little daughter since she was 16 years old. Maria turned 22 last month, and a year ago was able to build her own wooden house. During the six years she's been living with her partner, they have been working on his parents' farm. They have had good harvests of pineapples and bananas, which have generated excellent profits and enabled her to buy land and a build a house. But now her daughter is sick and Maria is staying at home to take care of her. She misses working a lot, so they're planning to open a grocery store in their house so she can run it without neglecting her daughter. This is her fifth loan with MFP. She has used prior loans to build her business little by little. She really appreciates her communal bank, which has offered her unconditional support, and she has never missed a single payment. She will use the requested loan to purchase fertilizer for the fields and snacks for her shop.
