A loan helped to buy fish, plantains, and meat.

Ana Alegría's story

Ana is 53 years old. Her husband died several years ago but she had two children with him who are now adults and still live in her house in Montecristi, known for the its precolonial culture and nationally and internationally renowned handicrafts.

Many years ago Ana started a business in her home to earn her living. Every morning she prepares a delicious fish, shrimp, and plantain ceviche, a dish that is much requested by her customers. They know she makes a delicious ceviche and they go to her place every day to eat.

In addition, she goes out around town in the afternoon to sell empanadas, corviche [fried stuffed plantain], and other snacks that she herself makes. That way she's able to earn extra profits that help her earn a living.

She's going to use this loan to buy fish, plantains, meat, and other ingredients to prepare her dishes.

Her dream is to get ahead.
