A loan of $850 helped purchase of fertilizer.

Angélica's story

Angélica is 49 years old and a hard-working mother. She's married and she and her husband have seven children. They own their home. When Angélica was young she didn't care for farming, but later on she began to love it and she married a farmer. Her work soon turned to planting plantains, pineapples, and primarily coffee. When her children were very small, she and her husband redoubled their efforts. But now that they've grown, the children help Angélica and her husband with the work and subsequently reduce the number of days spent in the fields. The family organized coffee sales in various markets in search of a good price. This dynamic allows them to increase the earnings for their household, because while Angélica and her husband are selling, their children are working the land. With their earnings they can cover the cost of the children's education, including high school for the younger children and technical university tuition for the older children who live in other cities. Given these achievements in the agriculture sector, Angélica learned to love it and care for her crops. This is her fifth loan with MFP, and during her last four loan cycles she worked very responsibly. Angélica attended group meetings respectfully and punctually, because she's a sensible woman who addresses the problems of her colleagues in the community bank. This loan will be used to buy 18 sacs of nitrate fertilizer, to achieve the best possible coffee crop.
