Hannah's story

Hannah Q., age 40, is the mother of five children: three sons and two daughters who are currently in senior high, junior high and primary schools. Her husband is the pastor of a church. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in Dwenase, a suburb of Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western Region of Ghana.

Hannah is a fish monger who sells smoked fish. She sells the fish on a tabletop at the market square and also supplies retailers and food vendors in her community. She buys cartons of fresh fish from big cold stores in Kumasi and smokes the fish herself. She has been in business for 10 years and wants a loan to buy fish in bulk. Hannah's desire is to expand her business and give her children the best education she can afford.
