A loan of $450 helped to increase stock in her shop.

Matilde's story

Matilde, 35 years old, was born in the city of Maputo. She studied at school until fourth grade. The reason she had so little education was the death of her parents when she was still a child. She is a single mother and has four children, 16, 10, 8 and 5 years old, respectively. She lives in her own house.

Matilde has been a merchant for more than five years and owns her own business. Learning this trade was a matter of survival. She sells fresh produce in the local market and her daily sales vary between 500 MT and 700 MT.

This is her fourth loan. She has never worked with other microfinancing institutions, but has only worked with Hluvuku. With this loan she plans to increase the volume of her merchandise and diversify the products she sells.

In the future, she plans to have indoor plumbing and to build a weather-proof wall for her home. She counts on having more loans from Hluvuku.
