A loan of $250 helped to invest in expanding the business.

Leonora's story

Leonora S., from the village of Pigsag-an, Cagayan de Oro City, is a 34-year-old married mother of three school-aged children. To make a living, Leonora owns and operates a tailoring business whose main source of income comes from providing specialty tailoring services to local community members. Leonora has been engaged in her business for over 10 years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2008, Leonora joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having fully repaid a previous loan of 8,000 PHP from HSPFI that was used to purchase additional fabrics and materials, Leonora is requesting a new loan of 11000 PHP which will be used to invest in expanding the business. This loan will be her third from HSPFI, and she plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement income for the family and to support the education of her children.
