A loan of $1,000 helped purchase of coffee maker and investment in another business.

Margarita's story

Margarita is 38-years old and lives with her husband, her 15-year old daughter and 12-year old son in a house that the family owns. For two years she has worked preparing and selling coffee to the merchants at Belaúnde market in her town.

She is taking advantage of the low temperatures, due to the approaching winter, which increases the demand for hot drinks. Thus, Margarita gets up very early and sells coffee and sandwich to the workers who begin their work day close to the market. She then returns home before noon to do house work and goes back to the market in the afternoon to continue selling.

Margarita is very happy, as her business is profitable because she prepares just the right quantity to meet the needs of her "caseritos" (loyal customers). Also, she knows that to continue improving her profits, in the future she will need to rent a location to sell greater quantities.

This is her third loan with Microfinanzas PRISMA and she is very happy with her community bank, as the members are friends, and also very punctual with their loan payments. With the requested loan she will buy a coffee maker and disposable cups. Also, Margarita wants to invest in another business, possibly one selling food.
