A loan helped to purchase fertilizers for an organic, fair trade coffee farm.

Raul's story

Raúl lives in Barrio Nuevo, a small community of coffee farmers on the outskirts of San Ignacio, Perú. Raúl is 38 years old, and lives with his wife and 6 children. He runs his own 4-hectare coffee farm and sells his delicious, high quality, certified organic and fair trade coffee to the coop, Cooperativa Cenfrocafe.

When Raúl was a child, his parents taught him how to farm, and since the age of 16 he has worked independently. Now he farms his own coffee with his wife. Raúl has dreams of growing his coffee on more land and improving the living conditions of his family by, for example, ensuring his children have access to higher education.

Raúl can be described as a responsible person. He is a friendly and supportive member of his community. Furthermore, Raúl has demonstrated punctuality throughout the ten years he has been an active member of Norandino, making the payments on his previous loans on time.
