A loan of $350 helped buy ingredients for the preparation of meals the she sells.

Imelda's story

Imelda is a 40 year old woman, unassuming and hardworking. She is the mother of 2 sons – Miguel, 12 years old, and Ruben who is 8. She lives in her own house which is made of adobe and she wants to get ahead.

In the San Jose Market (the most important market of the city of Juliaca) she has a small space where she sells delicious food. The aroma that rises from her rich stews is enough to attract people. Her place is very busy and she usually runs out of all the prepared portions.

She has been working for fifteen years in this business, which has provided the necessary money to feed her sons and pay for their studies, but she feels that in the future she is going to have more expenses and the money will not be enough. For this reason she wants to start a restaurant to sell her delicious dishes in a more comfortable setting and increase her income. Imelda likes to talk with her clients and enjoys doing that a lot, but it is difficult to attend to all the people that come to her place at the same time. However, she does not falter in her eagerness to move forward and is ready to work hard to achieve that.

This is her first loan with MFP and she expects to be able to repay it on time so as to not create a problem for her community bank where she is very respectful of the other members. With the one thousand new soles she is requesting, she will buy more ingredients to prepare the meals she sells and be able to sell more portions each day,
