A loan of $675 helped to complete payment on a washer and to purchase laundry products (soaps and detergents).

Maria Elva's story

Maria Elva belongs to the Community Bank "Las Violetas II". She lives in Jr. Nicaragua Cuadra 1, in the Santa Isabel region of the Cajamarca district, located in Rioja, San Martin. She is married, 52 years old and has 3 children, all of whom are independent.

For the past many years Maria Elva has been providing laundry services. When she just started she washed clothes by hand but her customers soon started to multiply. Given the high quality of service she provides her clients were also very satisfied. With the first loan of S/.300 nuevos soles she purchased a second-hand washing machine. But this soon was not enough either because she soon started providing her services to private organizations that sent her large volumes of washing to do. Currently she has a digital washing machine that has been enormous help to her.

One of her dreams and a goal to strive for is the establishment of a larger laundry shop, set up with industrial washers and dryers, so that she might expand her roster of clients.

With the requested loan of S/2000 she will completely pay off the washer she currently has. And she will purchase boxes of detergent and fabric softener, to keep up the level of service she has been providing.

Maria Elva feels like a very accomplished woman, and now more than ever she has the drive to make her dreams a reality. She is grateful to Manuela Ramos (Kiva Field Partner) to having helped her start up her business, as it has been done for so many other women entrepreneurs.
