A loan of $1,000 helped a coffee plant nursery.

Modesto's story

Modesto is 44 years old and lives in his own house with his wife with whom he has 7 children, of which 4 live in his house and help with harvests, while the rest have migrated to other cities. Since he was a young boy he helped his father to farm, and once he got married this activity became his only source of income. He produces coffee and plantains and sends every harvest to the markets of the city of Lima and Huancayo to receive higher earnings to the cover costs of feeding his children; this is the dynamic that he works with constantly. Years of experience have allowed him to achieve very good crop yields that have been very profitable, which has allowed him to cover the expenses of educating his children. On some occasions he has been able to increase production, but in others, he has had to confront pests that have threatened his work capital, which has often saddened Modesto. However, because he likes working and loves his crops he continues working with the same faith with which he started. Currently Modesto has the desire to purchase of stand in the city so that his children can sell their products without the need for a middleman, which will allow them to increase their earnings. He is one of the founders of his communal bank for which he has much affection. In the five loans that he has had with MFP he has shown himself to be a responsible man with a great sensibility to others problems. The money that he is requesting is to invest in a nursery for his coffee plants that he will in a few months take to plant on new plots of land.
