A loan of $650 helped to buy piglets, cement for a fence, pig feed, and fertilizer.

Atanga Emelda's story

Emelda is married with eight children, two of whom are below 15 years old. She lives at Mile 3 Nkwen, Bamenda, North West Province. Emelda plans to invest her loan in pig rearing and crop farming of crops. She will increase her pig style, buy more piglets, feed, and farm inputs.

This is Emelda’s fifth loan from GHAPE. She became a member in 2004 and since then her repayments have been satisfactory. This loan will help her expand her pig rearing business and cultivate a large portion of land for greater yields. She is convinced this business will succeed because she has experience in the business and it will help her community by providing food stuff.

She plans to use the profit from the loan to pay school fees for her children, cloth them, give them good medical attention, and even feed the family. She also intends to diversify her activities with a provision store in her house.

Emelda prefers to receive a loan from GHAPE because the method of repayment is comfortable and convenient, GHAPE offers training, and there is proper follow-up when the loan is disbursed to ensure it is properly managed.
