A loan of $350 helped buy fertilizer.

Ylis's story

Ylis, 19, lives in her parents’ house with her husband and her baby. She and her husband work together as farmers. Her family is recently formed, and at the moment they are receiving help from her parents and parents-in-law. Her parents and in-laws have given them some fields to cultivate. They are using the fields to plant potatoes. They also raise animals like guinea pigs and chickens. Ylis embroiders "fustanes" (clothing typical of her region, like a skirt). All of her efforts are made for the sole purpose of strengthening the family’s finances.

Up until now the work she and her husband have done has born good fruit. Therefore, they project a good future as farmers.

This is her first experience with a community bank. She was invited to join the group that she currently belongs to because they saw in her a young mother who is very responsible with her accounts. The loan is to buy approximately eight bags of fertilizer for their next crops.
