L. Nguyễn Thị is a 36 year-old woman living in the town of Mê Linh. She is married and has 2 school-aged children. L. owns & operates a business raising livestock. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes primarily from raising cattle for sale. L. has been engaged in this business for over 6 years and earns approximately 5,000,000 Vietnamese dong a month (or about $280 US) from these activities.

In 2000, L. joined TYM Fund to gain access to financial services to help improve both her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. L. has successfully repaid a previous loan of 20,000,000 dong (or about $1120 USD) from TYM Fund. This previous loan was used to purchase baby livestock to raise & sell in the future. L. is now requesting a new loan of 20,000,000 dong which will be used to purchase breeding livestock. The loan will be the 8th taken out by the borrower from TYM Fund. L. plans to use the additional revenue generated from the loan to improve/expand her business.
