Mwanacha's story

Mwanacha has been a firewood and bread seller in the Mikunguni neighborhood of Zanzibar for three years. She belongs to the Nia safi group loan. She currently earns an average monthly profit of approximately $80. Every day, she works at her business for eight hours. She is requesting her second loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more firewood and wheat flour for her business. She is hoping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business as well as be able to save money for a future use, to improve her home and to pay school fees for her children. Mwanacha is 27 years old and married with two children, ages 11 and 2.
