A loan of $1,000 helped to buy more merchandise.

Maritza's story

Maritza is 34 years old. She lives with her 17 year-old son in her mother’s house. She sells clothing as a street vendor in the city’s market. She prefers to sell on Sundays, since the possibility of making sales is greatest on this day. She always counts on her son’s help to carry the packages of merchandise that she transports. She began with this 5 years ago, and so far the business has been profitable. This is what motivates her to continue increasing her working capital. This the second time she has had a loan with MFP and she is certain that she will stay with her communal bank because she likes working with all of the group’s members. The loan she is requesting is to purchase new merchandise. With new merchandise she can return to selling in her town’s market; the last few times she only sold in her neighborhood because she didn’t have many items of clothing to sell.
