Chi's Group
In this Group: Chi, Keng, Tuek, Chao, Chi
This is a small group comprised of five borrowers, all of whom live in the province of Siem Reap. Its leader, Mrs. Chi T., 39, is a widowed mother who has three children. All three of them are single and attend school. She usually sells fresh fish that she buys in bulk from a wholesale supplier and then retails them for a profit in the local market. In the business, Chi T. has attracted a number of customers who come to buy her fish because she has a skill in communication and sells at a better price in the market. In order to meet more of her customer's needs, she would like a loan to accrue a quantity of fresh fish to sell. The other four borrowers who have joined this loan:
Mrs. K. will be using a loan to buy more tools for her fishing business.
Mrs. R. is fish catcher, who is asking for a loan to purchase a boat to use for fishing.
Mr. C. is a fish-carrying worker, who is applying for a loan to repair his old house.
Mrs. T. will be using the loan money to support her fishing business activities.

About HKL

Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
