A loan of $1,575 helped a member purchase of entrants, seeds, and minor agricultural materials.

Niagnéguéton 4 Group's story

Niagnéguéton 4 is comprised of women of the Sinsina Sesso hamlet of the town of Koutiala (third region of Mali) who live in big, extended traditional families. They have have an average age of 28 and are the mothers of at least 4 children each. They grow mainly peanuts and millet.

To satisfy their needs in terms of seed, entrants, and minor agricultural material for cultivating peanuts and millet, the members of the group decided to join the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso, four years ago (four rural loans). All the preceding loans have been correctly reimbursed.

The present loan will be used to buy minor agricultural material, a sufficient quantity of peanut and millet seeds, and entrants. The women buy these various articles at the market in Koutiala. After the rainy season, the harvests are stocked for a time so that they gain in value before being sold. They sell cereals in all the markets around Koutiala and in the big open-air market.

After the sale of the harvests, each of the women of the Niagnéguéton 4 group expects to make a profit of 80,000 F CFA which will be used to cover current family expenses and reimburse the loan.
