Alexandra's story

Alexandra is a 59-year-old farmer from Cetireni village, Ungheni region, Moldova. She is married and has three sons. The younger son is 23; he is a student. Alexandra is a happy and rich grandmother, because she has six grandchildren.

Since 2002, Alexandra has been employed as a head of the post office in her village. Before that, she worked as a cashier-controller at the bank for 21 years. And seven years ago, together with the husband, Alexandra decided to start the farming activity. Today she has planted 24 walnut trees, 1.4 ha of corn and 0.4 ha of sunflower.

At the farm, she raises two pigs, a cattle and poultry. Alexandra earns income from selling agriculture goods and animals, and it’s a good financial additional for the retired. And to increase them, she wants to buy a cow to have the possibility to sell the milk products. But not having enough money, she decided to take a loan from Kiva.

Therefore, Alexandra will earn a stable income to support her family and to help her son finish his studies.
