A loan of $500 helped to buy more stocks of smoked fish and dried fish.

Abena's story

Abena started her fish sales ten years ago at Dorma in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Abena prepares and serves her customers with very tasty and good quality fish, and because of that many customers buy from her stand. She has a cunning spirit to convince her suppliers to sell her more fish when there is high demand for fish and supply is low. She buys stocks of fish from the cold stores in Kumasi and smokes them at a nearby stand. She has a high customer base, lots of customers that buy from her stand. They buy from her both fresh fish and smoked fish.

Abena is now 40 years old, married, and a mother with a child who is currently working. She requests the loan to upgrade her stock of goods; like this, she believes she can buy more fish to prevent her from frequent traveling to Kumasi. She would be grateful for your assistance. She belongs to the village bank called ‘Asomdwe’ which means Peace.
