Yaa's story

Yaa Y. is 39 years old. She is married and a mother of five kids. Yaa lives with her husband and children at Dorma town. Yaa is a food vendor who prepares and sells kenkey in her neighborhood. Kenkey is prepared from milled maize grains that are cooked and taken with hot pepper and fried fish. Yaa has many customers since many Ghanaian enjoy kenkey as breakfast, lunch and supper. In addition, she also sells raw food like bags of maize at the market square of Dorma. She has been selling kenkey for five years now.

Yaa wants to use this loan to buy more raw materials, like bags of maize, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood. She hopes to earn more income to support her children, especially in their education. She belongs to the village called ‘Gyedie mu Aba’.
