A loan of $650 helped to buy two truckloads of firewood.

Etiennette's story

Etiennette K. was born circa 1968 in Adja, in the Mono Department in Southern Benin. She's married and the mother of four children. One of her child is an adult already, but she still has to support the other three. For almost five years, Etiennette has been wholesaling firewood. She already obtained two loans for her business. She's seeking a third loan from Kiva's partner, Alidé, in order to meet an ever-increasing customer demand.

Alidé means “there is always a path for the poorest” in Benin’s local language of Fon. Benin is a small West African country located next to Nigeria and has a per capita GDP of $1,500.
