Augustina's story

Augustina A. is 31 years old; she is widowed and mother of two children. One is in school whilest the younger is still crawling. Augustina lives at Dorma Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. She is in the sale of foodstuffs in the community market. She sells items like cooking oil, tinned tomatoes, bags of rice, vegetables, etc. Selling these products is good, she says, because they move very fast and you can easily recover your money quickly. She takes delivery of goods from the surrounding villages and Kumasi.

Augustina deals directly with the wholesalers rather than retailers who would sell to her at a high price. She has sixteen years selling experience in foodstuffs. She is requesting the loan to buy more goods to help her provide for the family. She believes this can be possible with the help of loan assistance. Therefore she wants the loan to buy more bags of raw materials like rice, spices, tinned tomatoes, and fresh vegetables. She belongs to the village bank called ‘Trust in Jesus’.
