A loan of $500 helped to buy more stock of smoked fish and dried fish.

Vivian's story

Vivian A. started her fish sales ten years ago at Dorma Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo of Ghana. Vivian prepares and serves her customers very tasty and good quality fish, and because of that many customers buy from her stand. She has a cunning mouth to convince her suppliers to sell her more fish when there is high demand for fish and the supply is low.

She buys stocks of fish from the fishermen and smokes them at a nearby stand. She has a big customer base that travels from the other part of the region to buy her fish. They buy from her both the fresh ones and the smoked ones. She is now 38 years old, married, and mother of six children. Currently all her children are in school. She wants to use the loan to buy increased stocks of assorted fish to make increased sales and income to support her children's educational needs and her business growth. She belongs to the village bank called ‘Provident’.
