Hagar's story

Hagar K. is thirty-eight years old. She is married and has given birth to four children, one son and three daughters. According to her, some of her children are in the junior high school while others are in the primary school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a town called Kofiase, a farming and trading community near the district capital of Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo region.

Hagar's husband is a professional carpenter and she is a trader. She trades in second-hand women's clothing. Hagar sells by hawking locally and also treks to other towns to sell. She procures bales of textiles from Dormaa. She has been in business for six years and wants a loan to procure more textiles in bulk. She is hopeful that she can expand her business and give her children the best education she can afford.
