A loan of $750 helped purchase of electronics materials.

Amadou's story

Mr. Amadou D., 31, is single and the father of one child. He lives in a traditional family with his parents in the Darsalam neighborhood of Ségou (4the region of Mali).

Having left school at a young age, he began early on to work to earn his living. Thus, he began to make repairs on electronic apparatus and household appliances in Gambia where he had gone to see the world. Since he returned to his native land, 6 years ago, he has continued the same business. He has his workshop in the Darsalam neighborhood alongside the National Road, 200 meters from the new bus station of Ségou. He has a good reputation and is considered quite a genius at repairing electrical gadgets, even though he just picked up his know-how along the way.

With the intention of adding to his turnover, he came to Soro Yiriwaso 7 months ago. After a first individual loan, correctly reimbursed, he is on his second which he intends to use to buy 100 panels, 100 telephone batteries and 100 chargers. He does his buying in Bamako (capital of Mali). Mr. Amadou D. sells for cash or credit to a clientele composed of men and women, young and old.

With this loan he expects to make a monthly profit of 75,000 F CFA which will permit him to reimburse his loan and help his family. His ambition is to become involved in trade between Mali and the rest of the world.
