A loan of $875 helped to buy clothing.

Aminata's story

Ms. Aminata T., age 42, is married and the mother of three. She lives with her husband and children in the Darsalam district of the city of Ségou (fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali). A personal secretary by training, she essentially invested herself, upon marrying, into commercial business, notably in incense and clothing. She enjoys an enormous reputation today, especially during the marriage season, among women in Ségou.

With the goal of augmenting her working capital, in order to satisfy her burgeoning customer base, she turned toward Soro Yiriwaso, with which she has been associated for 42 months. After two individual loans and three solidarity loans, all correctly repaid, she is now on her third individual loan. This new loan will be used to buy a bolt of rich damask fabric, two bolts of less-rich damask, and ten bolts of Hitarget pagnes (colorful West African cloth). Supplies are gotten from wholesalers at the grand marketplace of Bamako (capital of Mali). Sales are made at the retail level out of her home, cash or credit accepted, to customers composed of men and women.

She intends to realize an average monthly profit of 50,000 francs CFA that will be put into savings, covering certain expenses, and repaying the loan.
