Nergui's story

Nergui B. lives with her husband and teenage son in Bayanzurh, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Her son is an 8th grader at a local high school. Nergui selling meat. She started the business with her husband in a local food market. Since it started in 1998, her business has done well and has expanded; wholesale and individual sales.

Nergui usually buys livestock such as sheep, goats, and cattle in the spring when prices are low and hires a herder to feed the livestock until the meat prices peak in the fall. She slaughters and sells them wholesale and to individuals in the local market. In the future, she would like to expand her butcher business by raising more livestock. She requests a loan to purchase more livestock for her business.
