Moises's story

Moisés is a small coffee producer in northern Nicaragua. He has 3.16 hectares (approximately 7.8 acres) of coffee plantation in a rural area away from the urban area. He takes care of it along with his wife and children. He used to work as a day laborer in different farms until he was able to acquire a small parcel which he has been managing for 15 years now.

This producer has passed on his love of growing coffee to his 4 children and these days, they work individually in this trade. The most notable is the work of his daughter Betty, who has benefited from Kiva fund financing.

This year he is requesting a loan to purchase farm supplies required for his coffee plantation and to improve the nutrition of the plants to produce a better harvest and therefore, more income to continue to improve the conditions for his family.
