Antonio's story

Antonio is a 46-year-old father, and home owner, who has always tried very hard to give his children the best. His greatest desire is to improve his family's quality of life. He makes handicrafts for a living, a skill he learned as a young boy. Nowadays he can weave anything from sweaters to scarves to ponchos to hats, etc. After making these articles of clothing he distributes them to various stalls to sell at the fairs in Juliaca.

What he likes most about his job is weaving. He’s been doing this for 16 years and hopes to have his own stall to sell his handiwork in the future, where he himself can sell what he makes. What he doesn’t like is transporting his work to the fairs since it’s very tiring and costly, even though he knows that it’s part of his job and he has to do it to get ahead no matter what it takes.

This is Antonio’s third loan with MFP. He knows that he has to pay his installments back on time if he wants to receive another loan from his communal bank. He is a very reliable and active member of the bank. He will buy more wool to make a better quality product with the thousand soles he is asking for.
