A loan of $675 helped to purchase utensils and furniture for her business.

Alicia's story

Alicia is a struggling wife and a hardworking mother. Since her partner fell ill she has been taking care of him and of their children even if she is not well either, having suffered a stroke 2 months ago. But she pulled through and started work again to keep up with the household expenses. Alicia sells clothing, but she also sells Picarones (squash and sweet potato donuts) from her house. The location is very good given the public transportaiton that runs through and brings by many people. She works her business every day from 3pm to 7pm. She cannot stay too long because there are bandits in the neighbourhood wanting to harm her. All of this doesn't stop her, but instead she is even more driven to realize her dreams of setting up a restaurant in her house, or in a locale with greater security. Having her ninth loan with MFP (Kiva Field Partner) is an indicator of her responsibility and the good working conditions of her group, the driving force for her development. The 2000 soles will be used to purchase utensils and furniture to better serve her clients.
