Salma Qamar Akhtar Group's story

Salma baji is the wife of Q. A., who owns a two-room brick house in Kasur, Pakistan, and has been living in it for the past 14 years. Kasur is famous for its sweetmeat. Salma baji is a very hardworking lady and a very sensitive soul. She can’t bear to see her family in trouble. She sews clothes to share the financial burden of her husband, who sells clothes in his native city of Kasur and buys from Multan and Lahore. These two cities are famous for their varieties. Salma baji is applying for a loan to buy more clothes to expand her husband’s clothes-selling business.

She is the group leader of six other women from her area. Rafia baji, Nusrat baji, Shahnaz baji, Zubaida baji, Shahida baji, and Bable baji each want a loan to buy clothes to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
