Irshad Shoqat Ali Group's story

Irshad baji is married to S. A. and has lived in the city of Kasur, Pakistan (famous for its sweetmeats) for the past 15 years. She prepares wooden items, such as trays, which people buy to decorate their homes. Irshad baji learned this art from her mother and has worked in this business for five years. Her husband works in the clothes-selling business. He buys clothes from different cities (Multan and Lahore) and sells to his native city, Kasur. Irshad baji is applying for a loan to buy clothes to expand her husband’s business.


Irshad baji is the leader of a group of four other women from her locality. Zubaida baji, Humaira baji, Fozia baji and Shabana baji each want a loan to buy clothes for their clothes-selling business.


This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
