A loan of $875 helped a member to buy construction supplies to sell.

Rasheeda M. Ashraf Group's story

My name is Rasheeda and I have lived in Kasur, Pakistan for the last 18 years. Kasur is famous for its sweetmeats. My husband's name is M. A.. He has a business selling construction supplies. He has been in this business for the last 6 years. I am a mother of three sons; all of them are currently in school and getting an education. I belong to a decorative embroidery business. I prepare embroidery dresses on order which I collect from the cloth market. To make one dress takes me 1 month and I earn a good income from this work. I use my income to pay off the school fees of my kids and fulfill their basic needs. I am applying for a loan to expand my husband’s construction supply business.

I am the group leader of three other women from my locality. Majidan baji and Jamila baji each want a loan to buy embroidery materials (colored thread, cloth and beads). Sakina baji wants a loan to buy seasonal fruits for her fruit- selling business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee each others loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In this group: Rasheeda , Majidan , Jamila , Sakina
