A loan of $1,000 helped purchasing fertilizer, and paying her workers.

Alejandra's story

Alejandra is 45 years old, and lives with her husband and children in their own house in the land of their birth. She spends every day doing farm work, in particular, caring for her animals, which she sells at her community’s livestock market. Alejandra mainly raises sheep and heifers, but also grows potatoes and other products that are native to the region. Even though her work tends to be difficult, she wants to continue working in the future so she can increase the number of animals she has and thus obtain greater profits when she sells the animals. This is Alejandra’s fifth loan with Kiva partner MFP, and she wishes to stay in her communal bank and continue working with her group so she can see everyone make progress. The money that Alejandra is asking for will be used to purchase bags of fertilizer and to pay the workers she is going to hire to plant the next crop.
