Nidra's Group's story

Nidra is a differently abled lady standing to the right-hand side of the photograph. She hails from a small village of Angul district, Odisha, India. She has a high degree of determination and courage. She is married to a cobbler who has a minimal income, and has one son and a daughter in her care.

For the last nine years, Nidra has been making and selling incense sticks for a living and to support her husband financially. Being a very manual process, incense stick making has been a high effort, but Nidra has been doing her job with dedication. She feels that there is a huge market demand for her incense sticks, as major Indian communities use these sticks to worship their idols.

Therefore, Nidra, along with her group member, is requesting a loan amount of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner Peoples Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to purchase scented powder, ether, wooden sticks, glue and packaging materials in bulk to enhance her volume of output and get a higher return on investment.

Nidra is in dire need of your kind help and is eagerly awaiting the same with lots of hope and aspirations.
