Our members of the “Yanacocha” communal bank are neighbors of the Surquillos zone, situated in the district of Calca, in the province of Cusco, located 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the city of Cusco.

The members carry out different activities, with agriculture and cattle being their main activities during the planting seasons; during the rest of the year they alternate their agricultural activities with different businesses, which are: raising poultry, purchasing and selling seed, vegetables, and fruit, grocery stores, and mechanic and repair shops. The members are questing a loan to increase their products, which will increase their productivity.

They are extremely thankful for the support that they have obtained and reaffirm their wish to work hard to be able to achieve their goals; they also commit to making their loan payments in full in the time granted.

Nuestros socios del banco comunal “YANACOCHA”, son vecinos D. la zona D. surquillos, situado en el distrito D. Calca en la provincia del Cusco, ubicado a 1:30 minutos D. la ciudad del Cusco.

Los socios se dedican a diferentes actividades, teniendo como principal actividad la agricultura y ganadería, en las épocas D. siembra, en resto del año ellos alternan sus actividades agrícolas con los diferentes negocios, que son, la crianza D. aves D. corral, la compra y venta D. semillas, D. verduras, D. frutas, D. tiendas D. abarrotes, negocio D. mecánica y reparación. Los socios solicitan el préstamo para poder incrementar más sus productos y así tener mayor productividad.

About Asociación Arariwa
Asociación Arariwa is a large non-governmental organization that started offering microcredit in 1994 to improve the quality of life, skills and equity of the population in the rural Cusco region of Peru. Arariwa serves the southern Andean provinces of Peru, and is distinguished by its efforts to reach the very poor, who often live in isolated rural areas. Arariwa fosters village banking, supports savings accounts, promotes access to education, and empowers women entrepreneurs (who make up 78% of its borrowers).

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
