Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $700 helped to buy frozen foods and cereals.

Gifty's story

Gifty A. is 45 years old. She is a married woman with three children. Currently all her children are in school. Gifty belongs to the village bank called "Yesu Tease."

Gifty has been selling frozen foods like chicken, mutton, fish, meat, sausages etc. in the local market of Dorma for seven years. Gifty also prepares and sells food like banku and cooked yams. Banku is prepared from ground maize and it is eaten with different sauces.

She does not have adequate funds to support her business. This has affected her operation, especially in the face of increasing food prices. With this loan, she wants to purchase more frozen foods, such as fish, chicken, pork and meat, so she can raise enough income to expand her sales. She wants to save part of the proceeds to invest in her children's education. She would be grateful for your support.
