Kwabena's story

Kwabena is 44 years old. He is married with four kids. Kwabena has been a taxi driver for the past 12 years. Taxi driving has been his major occupation and the main source of livelihood for his family. He drives passengers from the local lorry station to the nearby towns at a transport fare of 55 pesewas per head. However, his car has been giving him some problems and he needs money to maintain it. He therefore requests a loan to enable him to maintain his taxi to earn an income to support his family and get his kids back to school. He belongs to the community group called “Nyame be kyere” Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to access the loan and peer pressure to repay the loan.
