A loan of $675 helped to buy ingredients for her cakes.

María's story

María is 28 years old and, together with her partner, has the responsibility of providing the necessary care for her two small daughters who require a place to live. For now, they are living in her in-laws’ house. The need to increase her income led her to learn to bake and, when she finished her studies, she had the opportunity of buying a small oven that she now uses to prepare her goods to distribute to various stores. She has been in the business for one year and, in this small amount of time, she has managed to build a large customer base that places orders with her every two weeks. In addition, María provides her services for parties and other social events where she takes her delicious treats for consumption by attendees. Despite the fact that these events are sporadic, she earns enough to continue working and complete her other small orders. For the future, she wishes to have her own bakery in the center of her locality with the aim of generating greater income for her home and to obtain a house so her family can live in more comfortable conditions. María arrived at MFP a year ago, is in her second credit and, together with her colleagues, has been able to generate a large amount of income to benefit her group as her activities help them grow economically. With the 2000 soles she requests, she will buy products and ingredients to make her cakes so she can increase her production.
